this clip begat a stroll through the cine audio-visual archives, which turned into a run of related youtube videos showing scenes from 1970s edmonton…. all-in-all, that was a full-on 1.5 hour internet tangent…. thank-you for the distraction!
One thing that really caught me by surprise was the public prayer at the end of Mayor Hawrelak’s speech in 1955…. my how the face of public politics has changed.. I don’t think Mandel would be able to sit still through a similar exercise…
